Pregnancy Update: Weeks 22-30

Monday, April 27, 2015

Oh hey! I'm still pregnant, I just never blog about it! A little update, shall we? Prepare yourselves for a lot of quality mirror selfies.

22ish weeks:

When you are especially bored at the OB office because your doctor had to go deliver a baby you take selfies and send them to your sisters (23ish weeks)

^the awkward stage where you sometimes just look fat and not at all pregnant, especially when sitting down haha!

24ish weeks (I think this outfit definitely makes me look bigger than I was at this point):

25 weeks:

26 weeks soaking up the sun while the boys played outside:

By third trimester it's completely acceptable to wear your husband's clothes to bed:

28/29 weeks:

And now we are at 30 weeks! Wow I've been so awful at documenting this pregnancy. Poor baby girl ha!

So at 30 weeks...

Gender: Still assuming girl since I haven't had an ultrasound since 18 weeks when they told us it was a girl! I have a little bit of anxiety that she will come out and not be a she though ha!

Total weight gain/loss: At my last appointment the doctor said 24 pounds but I think either the nurse wrote the weight down wrong or the doctor calculated wrong because I watched the scale when she weighed me and it was only 20lb more than what they've recorded as my starting weight. So I'll have to confirm at my next appointment in two weeks.

Exercise: I just finished Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred! Okay that's a little bit of a lie because I only finished 28 days and then both my boys came down with nasty fevers for a week aaand basically I've not exercised all week long ha! But I'll do my last two days and then it's on to running or (stationary) biking every morning!

Swelling: None.

Maternity clothes: Errdayyy.

Belly button: Mostly out.

Sleep: Sleep has easily been the worst this pregnancy out of my three pregnancies. Easily. Restless leg syndrome is a beast. About five minutes after I hit the sack I just want to get back up and go on a five mile walk. But it's usually around midnight so I obviously don't really consider it. Any takers on being a midnight walking buddy? ;)

I did pay a visit to a chiropractor a few weeks ago (my first ever chiropractic experience!) and it cured my severe lower back pain that I was having at nights and also significantly reduced the severity of my restless leg syndrome. I've noticed the restless leg syndrome getting bad again in the last week so I think I may be due for another visit soon! I'm also just generally uncomfortable and restless at night. I seem to have more Braxton Hicks at night which never hurt but just feel uncomfortable having your belly so tight! Plus they always make me have to pee (tmi?)!

Food cravings: Root beer floats and fresh fruit...not together.

Symptoms: Restless leg syndrome,

Movement: Soooo much movement! I'm sure it's the same as the boys but I always forget how much they move at this point! She is always twisting and turning!

Labor signs: Nope.

What I miss: Regular clothes. Being able to reach to paint my toenails. Not having to pee every 30-60 minutes. Sleep.

What I'm loving: Baby movements, browsing baby girl clothes, making headbands/binky clips/quilts, etc!, planning and starting to decorate the nursery.

What I'm looking forward to: The 40 week mark ;) And also a baby shower in late May!

Best moment this week: Finishing baby girl's (and mama's!) first quilt! It is far from perfect but I'm so in love! I will post a picture soon, promise!

I had an OB appointment this week and measured only 28cm at 30 weeks (supposed to measure 30cm) and so the doctor told me "this is not a big baby." And man am I hoping she's right! Because I really, really want a 7-something pounder! I can't even imagine a 6 pounder! That would be amazing ha!

Another fun fact? My mom came with me to my OB appointment this week to help watch the boys and when we pulled into the parking lot she said "this is where I used to come!" Apparently she delivered all six of her babies at the same clinic where I'm being seen! When we went into the office we figured out that the doctor who delivered me is actually still practicing ha! I'm on rotation with all the doctors at this point and I actually have my appointment with him in two weeks, so crazy! I definitely plan to tell him that he delivered me ha! I think it would be so crazy if he delivered baby girl! How many people can say that the doctor who delivered them also delivered their baby? Except I really love my primary doctor and would love for her to deliver me. Honestly I love everyone I've seen so far and would be happy with any of them delivering my baby which is a great feeling! - considering with Phillip's delivery I somehow ended up with a random on-call doctor who wasn't even from my doctor's office!

Overall, I have to say I've felt really good this pregnancy! Nights aren't great with the restless leg syndrome and general discomfort but during the days I generally feel pretty great! I still have energy to chase the boys around, I'm relatively comfortable during the daytime hours, and I'm loving Jack's excitement over "new baby." We are getting so excited to welcome a little girl into the family! If only we could decide on a name...! Can't believe we have less than 10 weeks left eek!!

We celebrated Easter!

Sunday, April 26, 2015

You may not believe it since I never posted about it but we really did celebrate Easter! The boys got to do like three egg hunts. It was so fun this year because Jack actually understood hunting for eggs! Phillip was always happy just finding one and then opening it and eating the candy ha.

We did one egg hunt with friends at the park and Jack was running so fast that the eggs flew out of his basket just as fast as he was putting them in haha! He was only supposed to collect 10 eggs and I kept having to have him come back for me to count because I couldn't keep track of how many he had put in vs how many had fallen out ha!

"Mooooom Phillip's taking my eggs!"

"Those are my eggs, Phillip!"

And then he took a few of Phillip's eggs too just for good measure.

On Sunday in between sessions of LDS General Conference we did a little egg hunt for Jack in my parents' backyard. This one was fun because he could really hunt for the eggs that Daddy hid since there were no other kids to grab them all up.

^^Daddy tried to make Jack reach this one by himself. He jumped as high as he could several times but no luck haha

We spent the rest of Easter Sunday enjoying general conference and spending time with family. I'm still in the process of trying to determine some traditions we should have to make sure our littles understand the real meaning of Easter. While I love all the secular traditions like Easter egg hunts and dying eggs and candy galore I want them to remember their Savior's resurrection during this time as well! What kinds of traditions does your family have to keep the spirit of Easter among all the fun stuff?

The rest of Kansas

Saturday, April 25, 2015

The last Kansas post! And then I'm determined to be back to regular blogging! Says the lady who's about to deliver baby #3 in less than 10 weeks. This is what lofty goals are made of.

On our last day in Kansas my little niece was back to school after spring break so we had just the boys! We took them on a little walk and in true boy style they ran the whole way, climbed on anything climbable, threw rocks, dug in the dirt, etc etc.

How darling are they?! This picture might be my favorite of all time >>>

The whole two weeks (!!) my sister & I kept talking about how we really needed to make sure we got some pictures together. And then all of a sudden it was the last night and we had exactly zero pictures. We ended up taking ugly face pictures to send to our little sister and that's basically all the pictures we have together. Are you ready for this?

Kelli made us redeem ourselves with one normal picture and so...

But PS can I just tell you that ugly face pictures might just be one of my favorite things to do ever? We about died laughing making ourselves as ugly as possible.

And then! Time to fly home. We had a ridiculously early flight (6am!) and the airport is an hour from my sister's so we left at 4am eek! We chose the early flight because it was the only option that we didn't have to change planes. The boys were real troopers though and were SO good on both flights home. They both slept the majority of the first flight and Phillip also slept at least half of the second flight. Seriously, I got lucky with good little travelers!

Look at our amazing view at sunrise!

The second we walked in our front door Jack practically flew to the playroom. He bawled like a baby when I took him away from it after just five minutes to meet my dad for lunch. Ha! Needless to say we basically lived in the playroom the next few days. As much fun as they had, these two little boys were so happy to be home!

And also. Jet lag is real. Our sleep schedules were way off for several days. Many very early mornings and long daytime naps.

Now someone help me figure out a plan on how to get my sisters to move back home to Sacramento so we can play for more than just two weeks. Ready go!

xoxo
