Pregnancy Update: Weeks 22-30

Monday, April 27, 2015

Oh hey! I'm still pregnant, I just never blog about it! A little update, shall we? Prepare yourselves for a lot of quality mirror selfies.

22ish weeks:

When you are especially bored at the OB office because your doctor had to go deliver a baby you take selfies and send them to your sisters (23ish weeks)

^the awkward stage where you sometimes just look fat and not at all pregnant, especially when sitting down haha!

24ish weeks (I think this outfit definitely makes me look bigger than I was at this point):

25 weeks:

26 weeks soaking up the sun while the boys played outside:

By third trimester it's completely acceptable to wear your husband's clothes to bed:

28/29 weeks:

And now we are at 30 weeks! Wow I've been so awful at documenting this pregnancy. Poor baby girl ha!

So at 30 weeks...

Gender: Still assuming girl since I haven't had an ultrasound since 18 weeks when they told us it was a girl! I have a little bit of anxiety that she will come out and not be a she though ha!

Total weight gain/loss: At my last appointment the doctor said 24 pounds but I think either the nurse wrote the weight down wrong or the doctor calculated wrong because I watched the scale when she weighed me and it was only 20lb more than what they've recorded as my starting weight. So I'll have to confirm at my next appointment in two weeks.

Exercise: I just finished Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred! Okay that's a little bit of a lie because I only finished 28 days and then both my boys came down with nasty fevers for a week aaand basically I've not exercised all week long ha! But I'll do my last two days and then it's on to running or (stationary) biking every morning!

Swelling: None.

Maternity clothes: Errdayyy.

Belly button: Mostly out.

Sleep: Sleep has easily been the worst this pregnancy out of my three pregnancies. Easily. Restless leg syndrome is a beast. About five minutes after I hit the sack I just want to get back up and go on a five mile walk. But it's usually around midnight so I obviously don't really consider it. Any takers on being a midnight walking buddy? ;)

I did pay a visit to a chiropractor a few weeks ago (my first ever chiropractic experience!) and it cured my severe lower back pain that I was having at nights and also significantly reduced the severity of my restless leg syndrome. I've noticed the restless leg syndrome getting bad again in the last week so I think I may be due for another visit soon! I'm also just generally uncomfortable and restless at night. I seem to have more Braxton Hicks at night which never hurt but just feel uncomfortable having your belly so tight! Plus they always make me have to pee (tmi?)!

Food cravings: Root beer floats and fresh fruit...not together.

Symptoms: Restless leg syndrome,

Movement: Soooo much movement! I'm sure it's the same as the boys but I always forget how much they move at this point! She is always twisting and turning!

Labor signs: Nope.

What I miss: Regular clothes. Being able to reach to paint my toenails. Not having to pee every 30-60 minutes. Sleep.

What I'm loving: Baby movements, browsing baby girl clothes, making headbands/binky clips/quilts, etc!, planning and starting to decorate the nursery.

What I'm looking forward to: The 40 week mark ;) And also a baby shower in late May!

Best moment this week: Finishing baby girl's (and mama's!) first quilt! It is far from perfect but I'm so in love! I will post a picture soon, promise!

I had an OB appointment this week and measured only 28cm at 30 weeks (supposed to measure 30cm) and so the doctor told me "this is not a big baby." And man am I hoping she's right! Because I really, really want a 7-something pounder! I can't even imagine a 6 pounder! That would be amazing ha!

Another fun fact? My mom came with me to my OB appointment this week to help watch the boys and when we pulled into the parking lot she said "this is where I used to come!" Apparently she delivered all six of her babies at the same clinic where I'm being seen! When we went into the office we figured out that the doctor who delivered me is actually still practicing ha! I'm on rotation with all the doctors at this point and I actually have my appointment with him in two weeks, so crazy! I definitely plan to tell him that he delivered me ha! I think it would be so crazy if he delivered baby girl! How many people can say that the doctor who delivered them also delivered their baby? Except I really love my primary doctor and would love for her to deliver me. Honestly I love everyone I've seen so far and would be happy with any of them delivering my baby which is a great feeling! - considering with Phillip's delivery I somehow ended up with a random on-call doctor who wasn't even from my doctor's office!

Overall, I have to say I've felt really good this pregnancy! Nights aren't great with the restless leg syndrome and general discomfort but during the days I generally feel pretty great! I still have energy to chase the boys around, I'm relatively comfortable during the daytime hours, and I'm loving Jack's excitement over "new baby." We are getting so excited to welcome a little girl into the family! If only we could decide on a name...! Can't believe we have less than 10 weeks left eek!!

xoxo

25

Sunday, October 13, 2013

I said to T the other night "Can you believe there are still 15 weeks to go?"
His reply? "That's all?!"
THAT'S ALL!? What! 15 weeks seems like forever! I'm just so anxious to meet this little boy!
But I will try to patiently wait out my 15 weeks since I want him to keep on baking.

At 25 weeks...

-I for whatever reason kept thinking I was 30 weeks. That's torture [in the weirdest form].

-I did a side-by-side comparison of with Jack @ 25 weeks and now.
And I am here to tell you that exercise during pregnancy DOES make a difference.
Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

-I have been waking up at night with borderline Charley Horses. My calves are really tight but the muscles have not contracted enough yet for the pain to really set in. I quickly flex my toes before the excruciating pain [that I know is inevitable one day soon] rears its ugly head.

-I have been so diligent at riding my exercise bike and not so diligent at walking anymore. I burn the same amount of calories in 30 minutes on the bike as I do in an hour and 15 minute walk. And besides, I can watch Say Yes to the Dress while I work out.
But I do still love our river walks so I'll get back to those one day soon.

-My belly button is officially half out. With Jack, it popped halfway out and then just...disappeared. No, really. I didn't have a belly button for like three months. We'll see if that happens this time around or if I get an actual outtie.

-I have been stressing over the dumbest thing ever. Are you ready for it? Don't laugh.
I can't figure out how I want to wear my hair during labor.
I bet you're laughing but YES I'M SERIOUS!
I know it's so dumb but this is my story behind it.
Since I ended up with a scheduled induction with Jack I had time to plan my hair/makeup, etc. I went for curls and it started out cute when I checked into the hospital. But then I ended up tying my hair up in an I-don't-care-just-get-this-dang-hair-out-of-my-face bun halfway through labor. When I took my hair out later my hair was a complete frizzy mess. And every time I look back at pictures I wince. And there are a LOT of pictures from that day.
This time, I want to look back and not hate my hair.
I KNOW IT'S DUMB.
But that's how vain I really am.
So I have been seriously stressing about how to do my hair this time around.
I'm thinking sock bun or messy bun so that it's already off my face. I'll just have to make sure it's in a good position on my head that I can comfortably lay back [without ruining the bun, of course].
How ridiculous am I!?
Please let me know if you have other good ideas of labor hair HA.

-I needed to try some non-maternity shirts on this week and wanted a certain color wash of jeans. Didn't have them in maternity so I braved my pre-pregnancy jeans and...I am proud and shocked to tell you THEY FIT! They didn't come even CLOSE to buttoning, of course and NO they did not easily slip up over my bum [which seems to be the first thing to get bigger when I'm pregnant, so annoying] but hey, they FIT. It was worth documenting in a picture. I'm that vain, remember?

-I am seriously so ridiculously emotional. I bawled twice in two days this week.
Once because I was so overwhelmed with how much paint I still had to scrape away in prep for painting the exterior of our house [and Jack was not napping which left me limited time to scrape].
And the second time I just randomly started bawling while putting on my makeup all because I was stressed over Jack recently waking up at night every night and because I was feeling overwhelmed with a church activity we have been assigned to plan.
When I'm not pregnant I cry so rarely! Neither of these incidents would have caused tears a few months ago. These days I feel overwhelmed with just about anything and will randomly lose it. And I never experienced this with Jack so it's all new to me!
So if you happen to see me crying [or bawling] sometime in the next three months it's probably over something really silly.

Dear 26 weeks, please be less dramatic.

xoxo
