Pregnancy Update: Weeks 22-30

Monday, April 27, 2015

Oh hey! I'm still pregnant, I just never blog about it! A little update, shall we? Prepare yourselves for a lot of quality mirror selfies.

22ish weeks:

When you are especially bored at the OB office because your doctor had to go deliver a baby you take selfies and send them to your sisters (23ish weeks)

^the awkward stage where you sometimes just look fat and not at all pregnant, especially when sitting down haha!

24ish weeks (I think this outfit definitely makes me look bigger than I was at this point):

25 weeks:

26 weeks soaking up the sun while the boys played outside:

By third trimester it's completely acceptable to wear your husband's clothes to bed:

28/29 weeks:

And now we are at 30 weeks! Wow I've been so awful at documenting this pregnancy. Poor baby girl ha!

So at 30 weeks...

Gender: Still assuming girl since I haven't had an ultrasound since 18 weeks when they told us it was a girl! I have a little bit of anxiety that she will come out and not be a she though ha!

Total weight gain/loss: At my last appointment the doctor said 24 pounds but I think either the nurse wrote the weight down wrong or the doctor calculated wrong because I watched the scale when she weighed me and it was only 20lb more than what they've recorded as my starting weight. So I'll have to confirm at my next appointment in two weeks.

Exercise: I just finished Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred! Okay that's a little bit of a lie because I only finished 28 days and then both my boys came down with nasty fevers for a week aaand basically I've not exercised all week long ha! But I'll do my last two days and then it's on to running or (stationary) biking every morning!

Swelling: None.

Maternity clothes: Errdayyy.

Belly button: Mostly out.

Sleep: Sleep has easily been the worst this pregnancy out of my three pregnancies. Easily. Restless leg syndrome is a beast. About five minutes after I hit the sack I just want to get back up and go on a five mile walk. But it's usually around midnight so I obviously don't really consider it. Any takers on being a midnight walking buddy? ;)

I did pay a visit to a chiropractor a few weeks ago (my first ever chiropractic experience!) and it cured my severe lower back pain that I was having at nights and also significantly reduced the severity of my restless leg syndrome. I've noticed the restless leg syndrome getting bad again in the last week so I think I may be due for another visit soon! I'm also just generally uncomfortable and restless at night. I seem to have more Braxton Hicks at night which never hurt but just feel uncomfortable having your belly so tight! Plus they always make me have to pee (tmi?)!

Food cravings: Root beer floats and fresh fruit...not together.

Symptoms: Restless leg syndrome,

Movement: Soooo much movement! I'm sure it's the same as the boys but I always forget how much they move at this point! She is always twisting and turning!

Labor signs: Nope.

What I miss: Regular clothes. Being able to reach to paint my toenails. Not having to pee every 30-60 minutes. Sleep.

What I'm loving: Baby movements, browsing baby girl clothes, making headbands/binky clips/quilts, etc!, planning and starting to decorate the nursery.

What I'm looking forward to: The 40 week mark ;) And also a baby shower in late May!

Best moment this week: Finishing baby girl's (and mama's!) first quilt! It is far from perfect but I'm so in love! I will post a picture soon, promise!

I had an OB appointment this week and measured only 28cm at 30 weeks (supposed to measure 30cm) and so the doctor told me "this is not a big baby." And man am I hoping she's right! Because I really, really want a 7-something pounder! I can't even imagine a 6 pounder! That would be amazing ha!

Another fun fact? My mom came with me to my OB appointment this week to help watch the boys and when we pulled into the parking lot she said "this is where I used to come!" Apparently she delivered all six of her babies at the same clinic where I'm being seen! When we went into the office we figured out that the doctor who delivered me is actually still practicing ha! I'm on rotation with all the doctors at this point and I actually have my appointment with him in two weeks, so crazy! I definitely plan to tell him that he delivered me ha! I think it would be so crazy if he delivered baby girl! How many people can say that the doctor who delivered them also delivered their baby? Except I really love my primary doctor and would love for her to deliver me. Honestly I love everyone I've seen so far and would be happy with any of them delivering my baby which is a great feeling! - considering with Phillip's delivery I somehow ended up with a random on-call doctor who wasn't even from my doctor's office!

Overall, I have to say I've felt really good this pregnancy! Nights aren't great with the restless leg syndrome and general discomfort but during the days I generally feel pretty great! I still have energy to chase the boys around, I'm relatively comfortable during the daytime hours, and I'm loving Jack's excitement over "new baby." We are getting so excited to welcome a little girl into the family! If only we could decide on a name...! Can't believe we have less than 10 weeks left eek!!

xoxo

26 & 27

Saturday, November 2, 2013

So umm I'm 29 weeks tomorrow but let's review weeks 26 & 27, shall we?
I STILL do not have a working computer which is BEYOND annoying and is why I'm so behind in blogging. So, so hoping we find the time to put it back together this weekend so I can have a computer at home during the day to blog during Jack-o-lantern's naps.

At 26 weeks:

- I can officially say my belly button has popped out...at least as much as I think it's going to. It's more of a halfie but that happened last pregnancy too.

That's pretty much all I have to report from week 26. I'm so late in writing about it that I don't really remember anything significant. I don't think anything worth recording happened anyway!

So on to week 27...

-I saw my new OB, Dr. Melchione and I LOVE HIM. He's so personable and his bedside manner reminds me a lot of my OB I had with Jack (who I absolutely loved). He's probably the most outgoing doctor I've ever had and I really like that.  He seems to really love what he does and I love that.  He also explains everything really clearly without making you feel like he's talking down to you. One of my biggest pet peeves is when doctors talk to you like you're a little person.  Dr. Melchione and I are 100% on the same page as far as the birth plan and that is the MOST important thing to me. So I'm really happy with the switch.

- I measured 29cm at 27 weeks 2 days. Ideally, you should be measuring 27 centimeters at this point.  Dr. Melchione told me that if he didn't know my history at all he would predict I would deliver at 8.25-8.5 pound baby if I delivered on my due date just based on my measurements.  Knowing my history of having a big baby, he's estimating I will deliver a 9lb+ baby if I deliver on my due date.  Predictions are obviously just that - predictions so obviously who really knows how big the baby will be but let's just say I'm not going to be surprised if I have another chunky monkey on my hands.

- I did my two hour glucose tolerance test. BLAH. Let me just say that last time I really didn't mind it that much at all! Not that I loved the glucose drink or anything but I didn't see why people thought it was so bad. This time it was awful! Trying to down that whole bottle in 5 minutes was pure torture. Not to mention the whole experience was less than ideal. Here's how it went.

Arrived at lab, had blood drawn, downed drink in about three [horrible] minutes.

While trying to recover from the awful drink and feeling slightly sick to my stomach, a man and a woman come in who STINK. Like serious, serious B.O.! They definitely come from a culture where they don't believe in wearing deodorant. I do not kid you, it was AWFUL. The lab is pretty small so the entire place was drowning in the smell within a few minutes. I was not allowed to leave the lab during my test so I was stuck in there trying so hard to barely breathe.  This is my face during this awful smelly experience.

So these people were in the lab for only about five minutes but once they left the whole place smelled so rancid! One of the lab techs had been gone during this time and came back to the lab just a few seconds after the smelly people departed.  She walks in and goes "Why does it smell so awful in here?! I can't breathe!" and then the other lab tech proceeds to tell her about the awful smellies.  They dowsed the place in air freshener which sort of helped but it took a long time for the smell to completely dissipate.  Seriously already feeling sick mixed with serious body odor is not awesome.

An hour after my first blood draw, I had a second blood draw.  Then another hour after that, a third blood draw and then I was finally FREE TO GO! After the last blood draw the lab tech told me to consume lots of protein and no carbs. She was very specific about the whole NO CARBS thing (because it'll just process as more sugar which is the last thing you need after fasting and then drinking a straight up sugar drink and having your blood drawn three times) but guess what? The only food I had brought with me was POPTARTS. Hahaha! Pure carbs and sugar. Awesome.

BUT I was really hungry and had no other options.  So I definitely ate those Poptarts.

And then for lunch my grandparents took Jack & I to IHOP. Um you pretty much can ONLY get loads of carbs at IHOP. So I had more carbs. And then I felt sick the rest of the day.  Maybe next time I'll follow instructions a little better. On a happy note, I haven't heard from my doctor so that means I PASSED the glucose test.

-I ordered this cowl-neck maternity sweatshirt from Old Navy:

I had been on the hunt for a comfy maternity sweatshirt to wear around the house on cold winter days and my friend pinned this. It seemed to be exactly what I was looking for PLUS it was on sale PLUS I had a coupon for 40% off one item. So I got it for like $11 and was SO excited for it to come in the mail. I got it a few days later and pulled it out of the box and it looked HUGE. I checked the tag to see if they sent me the right size and sure enough it was an XS...so I tried it on despite it looking ginormous. Umm...

HAHAHA there is NO way this will ever fit me! Even at 40 weeks! Needless to say, it was mailed back. And I'm back on the hunt for a maternity sweatshirt. Why are they so hard to find?!

- I dressed up as a basketball for our church Halloween party. It was the ONLY time in my pregnancy I wished I was a little bigger. My ball looked sort of deflated :]

- I went on two 5+ mile walks with my mama.
- I am somewhere between +18 and +20 pounds for weight gain.
- And the happiest news? THIRD TRIMESTER.

Jeggings: JC Penney [same]
*except I'm really not a fan of these pants. They come in sizes S-XL and the small really is too large for me...they are constantly needing to be pulled up which is really annoying. Plus the belly band is too big at 26 weeks...maybe at 35 weeks it'll finally fit right?
Shoes: DSW
Necklace: Charlotte Russe

Note: I am 26 weeks in these pictures.
