Lukey's 15 mo check up

Monday, February 5, 2018

Lukey had his 15 mo well-child check last week. Still just a tiny human being - he's 18lb 2oz (2%) and 29.25" (2%). I think his head was somewhere around 36%.

Here are some fun facts about our Lukey at 15mo:
  • Loves to color (learned how to draw on himself while we were a the doctor and thought that was just about the funniest thing in the world)

  • He loves the trampoline, the swing, the Little Tikes truck and mostly just being outside. He stands at the back door and asks to go out often. Luckily, since we have a fenced yard, I can generally just send him out to play.
  • He loves to climb. I have to watch him carefully whenever we go to the playground because man, this kid can CLIMB. He climbs into the ottomans a lot but gets stuck because he can't climb out. I will find him on top of the playroom table, climbing on the kids' beds, climbing up step stools if they are left out, etc, etc. He will attempt to climb just about anything.
  • Loves to nurse. I don't know how I will ever wean this kid because he is so attached to nursing! My other three all weaned themselves right around a year but Luke is holding out hope that I'll let him nurse another year haha. I think I'm going to have to actually work at weaning him soon because it's not looking like he's going to do it himself. He asks multiple times a day "nurse? nurse?" and pulls on my shirt (unless he can't reach me then he will pull on his own shirt). He will even bring me my nursing cover or my cell phone (since I usually grab it before I nurse so I can do something during those 20 minutes haha) and then ask to nurse haha!
  • Sleeps 14 hours a night which is amaaaazing. And he even still takes a good 2 hour nap in the early afternoon. Probably my best little sleeper at this age, even though he was my worst for the first year.
  • When he's thirsty he will get a cup out of the cupboard and bring it to me and ask "drink?" It's amazing to me how young they can figure this stuff out.

  • He is my biggest love bug. He gives kisses and hugs any time you ask and loves to be held & cuddle.
  • His favorite songs are "if you're happy and you know it" (loves the "hooray!" part best and often will skip clapping and stomping and go straight to hooray haha), wheels on the bus (loves to do the motions, seeing him "shush" for the mommy is the cutest), and any of my made up songs...there are like 50 a day. I feel like I sing everything HAHA. Jack always asks me "did you just make that up?" I can't decide if I should be offended that it's so awful he knows I made it up or proud that he even has to ask because maybe, possibly, it's a real song LOL
  • Loves to find his belly button and say "ding dong!" He will walk around saying "ding dong" over and over while pressing on his belly button. He also knows where to find his nose and head.

  • Uses close to 40 words/phrases including: hungry, mine, all done, ball, doggy, whoa, wow, up, nurse, hi, bye, night night, uh oh, beep beep, mommy, dada, nice, drink, thank you, no, yeah, weee, oops, go, nose, belly button, ding dong, book, baby, jack jack, destiny, poopy, ice, spoon, head, grandma
  • Loves to JUMP. He will "jump" around all day saying "jump, jump." His feet never actually leave the ground but it's so cute seeing him squat all over the house haha

  • Recently discovered a love of books.
  • Loooooves, I mean LOVES, balls. Anything shaped like a ball is a ball and will be thrown. He loves to play catch and fetch and shoot baskets and sometimes "soccer."
  • Likes to drive cars around, drive them up something and have them fall off. He even makes a crashing sound when they fall.
  • Is pretty friendly with almost anyone. He will generally let strangers hold him without a problem.

  • We get so, sooo many comments everywhere we go on that RED hair. The other day I was looking something else up about red hair and found out that only 1-2% of the population has red hair. I knew it was small but I didn't know it was that small! No wonder he gets so much attention. I feel like I notice redheads everywhere now but I think it's kind of like how when you are pregnant you all of a sudden notice all the pregnant ladies...like wait, when did EVERYONE become pregnant!? Haha
  • He loves to run away from mom & dad, especially when we call for him. He also loves to try to just run in general. He's still pretty wobbly when he tries to go fast and falls down a lot. We get a lot of comments on how well he is walking but I think people usually assume he is more like 8 months instead of 15mo. He walks how most 15mo olds walk (or not as well haha) but he just looks so much younger.
  • Loves his siblings. He so far only knows how to say "Jack Jack" but if you ask where Zoe or Phillip are he will point to them. He loves to be wherever they all are, loves to "chase" them or play hide and seek and peek-a-boo. He especially loves copying everything they do or doing anything he can to make them laugh (which isn't that hard - they think he is so silly!).

We love you so much, Lukey boy!! Stop growing up so dang fast!!!!

Phillip: 15 Months

Monday, May 4, 2015

Let's chat about Phillip at 15 months, shall we?

Little boy is 20lb (5%) and 31" (50%). He's such a teensy little thing! Every time I pick him up I'm amazed all over again by how light he is. Jack was 20lb by 6 months so this little baby business is all new to me!

Kid loves to color. LOVES. I don't think Jack understood how to really use a pen/crayon/marker at this age but Phillip has loved to color for a couple months now. Although we're working on only coloring on paper ;)

Current vocabulary includes: hi!, uh oh, ball, mama, dada, whoa.

He knows dogs say "woof woof!" but every other animal says "rawwwwwr!"

Favorite foods: yogurt, cheese sticks, frosted mini wheats, yogurt bites, goldfish, applesauce pouches, french fries, any & all dessert. And also my child loves soda. I know, it's so bad that he's even had it before to know to love it! If we are out and someone has soda at the table he screams and cries until he gets a sip. I always give in and it's so bad! But we never ever have soda at home so he gets a few sips a week and I figure it's not gonna kill him haha.

This baby is our little climber! I'm always surprised at the things he can climb up on/into. Jack Jack has never been a climber (still isn't!) and Phillip can climb things that Jack wouldn't dare attempt to climb. He's also far more of a daredevil than Jack ever was. Just the other day we went to Fairytale Town (which is basically a glorified park ha!) and Phillip wanted to go down all the big slides over and over again. Jack stood at the bottom and watched him come down and cheered for him hahaha! Seriously, polar opposites when it comes to things that are "dangerous!" as Jack would say.

Lover of BOOKS. He will bring a book to me and climb onto my lap and plop down to read it. It's the cutest! His favorite by far is Peek A Who? followed by Little Blue Truck.

Expert tantrum thrower. He is following in big brother's footsteps and will slam his head on the ground any time he's upset. He has also mastered dramatic flops followed by sprawling out on the floor screaming/crying. Luckily most tantrums last all of three seconds before he gives up and starts playing again.

Loves to watch cars! Anytime he is in the playroom and a car drives down our street he will run to the window and say "hi!" and "vroom!" He also never misses the sound of a car passing by somewhere outside.

He is such a sweet, happy little baby and we love having him in our family! He brings us so much joy I can't even handle it!

xoxo

Phillip: 15 months!

Monday, April 20, 2015

I feel so sad that I'm so behind on my blogging because here I am (when Phillip is 2+) just now blogging about Phillip's 15mo check-up! I don't remember the little details about him at 15mo now that I would have known had I written this on time which makes me so sad to not have it recorded! Lesson learned to do better! At least there are pictures! :)

My instagram post of him at 15 months said: Still barely hanging on the charts in the 5th percentile for weight (20lb) and staying steady in the 50th percentile for height (31"). At 15 months, he runs everywhere, loves playing baseball, says "ball," "more," "mama," and "dada" and is very mischievous, climbs on everything, is a big daddy's boy and worships Jack.

Jack Jack:15 Months

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Our little Jack-o-lantern is 15 months old!
We had his well-child check-up last week and he is healthy and right on track developmentally!

He of course had to explore every cupboard and drawer and play with the doctor's stool.

And was weirdly obsessed with this growth chart.

Here's our cute boy pre-shots, happy as can be:

And post shots...is this not the saddest face you've ever seen!?

Here's a little bit about our sweet little boy at 15 months:

-He is 23lb9oz (40%) and 30.5" long (40%). His head is in the 75th percentile.
-He wears size 4 diapers, size 4 shoes, and size 12 or 18 month clothes.
-He has 11 teeth (or maybe 12 but he doesn't like me to feel his gums!...we've just been waiting on the last first year molar but I wouldn't be surprised if it's in. Once the first one came in the next two came within a few days).
-He waves and says "hi!" to everybody, including animals. For example, while at the park one day we saw a squirrel, ran toward it waving excitedly and saying "hi! hi!" I wonder if he wonders why the animals don't respond?
-He LOVES to play outside. For some reason the front yard is more fun than the backyard.
He can say hi, shoes, no, bye, uh-oh, thank you, mama, dada, hot, football ("but-ball"), binky ("bibi"), whoa, wow, uh-huh and mmhmm and randomly copies other words but I don't know that he really knows what they mean.
-He imitates letter sounds. Tell him "B says buh buh buh" and he will repeat the B sound.
-He is obsessed with graham crackers!

-He also loves PB&J sandwiches, grapes, bananas, and oatmeal. He's a really good eater and not very picky at all! He also loves any kind of candy, of course.
-He loves bath time! But does not like having his hair rinsed or washed.

-He LOVES airplanes and never fails to hear one passing overhead. Several times a day he'll point to the sky and imitate the sound of a plane...there is always at least a faint sound of one. It's crazy how many things we tune out in our every day world as we get used to the sounds. I don't notice half the planes passing overhead until Jack starts pointing and making airplane sounds.  Same goes for dogs...he hears the faintest dog bark and gets so excited! I don't even notice them!  The world has become a much more exciting place all of a sudden.
-He LOVES to read. He can be found reading to himself several times a day but also loves being read to.  His current favorite book is Llama Llama Nighty Night. He got it in the mail from my sister for his birthday and has been obsessed ever since.
-He love, love, loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or anything Mickey Mouse. He gets so excited when he hears the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song. He also loves Jake & the Neverland Pirates.
-He loves to turn on radios and "dance" which for him is really just waving his hand in the air.  He somehow figures out how to turn on every radio he sees even though we don't even have one anywhere in our house!  We listen to Pandora toddler station a lot around here though :]
-After one long night of sleep training (round one million - it seems like we always ruin his good sleep habits somehow!), he is finally back to sleeping in his crib all night long! Hooray!

I cannot even imagine our life before Jack Jack. I probably say that all the time but it's so true! Life must have been so boring before we had this little guy around! Not that T is boring or anything. But littles just make life so much fun! Everything seems special and magical with a little Imagineer around.

We love you, sweet Jack Jack!
