Pink eye and other things.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Hey guys, remember me!? I've seriously missed blogging but I just cannot seem to find the time to sit down and bang out all these posts that I'm now so far behind on. But because we're stuck at home for the next few days due to lots & lots of pink eye and also some croup, my goal is to sort pictures & GET POSTING. Let's hope it actually happens!

This pink eye is no joke though, you guys. Jack woke up Christmas morning with an irritated eye and we weren't sure whether or not it might be pink eye. A few days later when it was still pink and then swollen we were pretty convinced so we borrowed some leftover eye drops from Jack's cousin. His pink eye went away pretty fast but then Zoe started showing signs, *sigh*. And then...I got it. I have had it for a full week now and it is not getting any better! I think it's viral so the drops really don't make a difference anyway. I've finally conceded that maybe I keep reinfecting myself with my makeup so I'm eye makeup-free today and until they (yes, they, both eyes are infected as of today GAH) clear up. When the sister missionaries came over this morning the first thing they asked was if I was doing okay - pretty sure these red swollen eyes + no makeup make me look like I've been bawling for days. Don't be fooled by the below picture. This was almost a week ago when I first got caught by the pink eye demon and the eye makeup hides a lot.

Back when they used to all be able to go to nursery/primary...

This last Sunday we popped in for Sacrament meeting but then snuck out for the last two hours of church to get these little sickies back in bed.

We infected the good people of Target last week because even with pink eye & croup (and lots of rain!) I just could. not. miss the 90% holiday clearance! Could not.

Oh and if you follow me over on insta, you know we've been having lots of sleep problems lately. But you guys...Zoe slept all night last night so HALLELUJAH.

xoxo

Sickly

So I'm pretty sure I'm the worst blogger in the history of bloggers.
I just keep falling behind!
Then I catch up, then I fall behind.
It's really annoying.
But seriously it would be really helpful if we had a working computer at home.
*hint: hubby, can we please (pretty please!) get our computer up and running?!

Anyway. Besides the inconvenience of not having a computer at home, we've all been quite sickly.
It all started with Jack a little over a week ago. Runny nose, then fever with a nasty cough.

Took him into the pediatrician and turns out he had croup. So we got him some anti-inflammatory meds to help him sleep better at night but this darn virus is lasting forever.

He passed his cold onto me the day after he got it.  Fever, chills, stuffy nose, sinus headaches, body aches, cough, sore throat. I've pretty much had it all. We've passed the one week mark and I'm STILL feeling pretty unwell. I've had a sinus headache for over 24 hours straight! And being pregnant there's barely anything you can take. Tylenol just doesn't do it.
And then poor T came down with the virus. Now he's going through everything we already have: fever, chills, cough, sore throat, headaches. Blah blah blah!
Luckily, no stomach flu around here which I'm grateful for because I know it's going around!

We really should probably be spending our days resting up but with the holidays there is just so much family around that we've been kept busy!

Our poor little Jack Jack was just not himself for several days.  There was a lot of whining and a lot of tears and many sad, sad faces.

Even though he's still getting over the cough and runny nose, he's pretty much back to his regular, happy self and we are SO happy for that!

A Sick Little Boy

When we were in Texas
Jack Jack caught something from his cousin.
He started coughing three days ago.
At first it didn't sound too bad
but then it got worse and worse.
I called the doctor yesterday and after I described his symptoms
they wanted me to bring him in that afternoon.
We were catching a flight home from Texas yesterday so I scheduled something for today instead.

Jack Jack has his 6 month well-child check on Thursday and I was hoping we could wait for him to be seen then so it would be just one trip to the doctor
but they advised against that.
So we went this morning and good thing we did!
Poor baby has double ear infections, bronchiolitis, and possible asthma.
He was prescribed Amoxicillin for the ear infections
and we have to do nebulizer treatments
3x a day for a week
 to assist with his breathing/wheezing.

Little man fell right to sleep in the doctor's office after his nebulizer treatment.
I guess it helped!

Despite how sick my poor baby must feel he is still [almost] as smiley as ever!

Hoping we are on the road to recovery VERY soon!
