High FIVE for Friday!

Friday, May 9, 2014

HALLELUJAH.
It is Friday and T comes home!
He was out of town on business for a few days and yikes.
We missed him, to say the least.

Let's recap our week, shall we?
1. The beginning of the week started out great minus a few tears from Jack because Daddy was back at work after working from home for a few weeks then having a week off for our vacay in Utah.
We read books.
[excuse that my feet look GIANT. i swear i'm only a size 7!]

The boys watched "Cars-toons" [you know the mini Cars show on Netflix? yeah, unless you have a child obsessed with cars you probably don't know.]

How cute are they?!
So anyway. The week started out great and normal and perfect and wonderful.

And then.
Tom left to LA and all hell broke loose.

2. Jack refused to nap during the day or sleep at night.
He cried every time I left the room.
He refused to walk and instead insisted on being held everywhere we went.
everywhere.
You guys. Usually I'm like dripping with pride over how well-behaved and chill and easy my toddler is. The last couple days I think I experienced what it's like to have a normal toddler.
Note: Let it be said that Jack's super chill personality has nothing to do with my mothering skills.
He just came that way.
We got lucky.
I sent this picture to T as proof to how hard our days without him were turning out.

3. I am so not above bribing my child with pizza to ease the tears for a few minutes.
It totally worked and life was grand for the seven minutes it took us to gobble up the life-size Costco pizza slice.
[seriously though - those "slices" are like a quarter of the pizza!]

Oh, and you should know that Jack did not want me to break off pieces of the pizza for him.
He wanted to bite straight off that ginormous slice.
Your wish is my command, child.
Whatever keeps the tears at bay.

4. I finally figured out that my super chill child turned into a demon child overnight for good reason - TEETHING.
Those dang teeth.
At Costco he started putting his finger in his mouth and touching the back of his gums crying "owie!"
You better believe I busted out the ibuprofen right there in the middle of the food court immediately.
immediately.
STOP THE TEARS.
Anything to stop the tears!

5. Ibuprofen is a miracle worker.
The child slept.
And this mama got to spend some time with this happy babe
who is not teething.

The last few days have been long and rough and exhausting and thank goodness it is FRIDAY.
let's celebrate!
by napping.

xoxo

High Five for Friday!

Friday, April 25, 2014

Happy Friday!
We are currently living it up in UTAH having a great big party every day with my sibs.
It's a happy, happy Friday.
Today I'm linking up with lauren elizabeth and the ladies from five on friday:
darci//april//christina//natasha

[1] We had a fabulous Easter: an indoor Easter egg hunt for Jack in the morning, a great church service in the afternoon, and a delicious ham dinner with T's family in the evening. Oh, and the boys wore matching ties DIY'd by yours truly. It doesn't get much more cheesy Easter-y than that, friends.

[2] We decided last-minute to take a road-trip to Utah for my brother-in-law's college graduation. We didn't tell any of my siblings and surprised them late at night when we arrived. Seeing their shocked faces was SO fun!

[3] So happy for my sister and her husband because he graduates from BYU today! College graduation is a big deal, guys. I remember how great it felt when T finally had that diploma in hand. Congrats to both of you [because we all know both spouses do their fair share of work pushing each other through school]!

[4] Our Utah vacation has been amazing so far. Minus Taylor's graduation [the reason we are here!] we have basically no set plans and are just going with the flow. That is SO unlike me and let me tell you that I'm loving every minute. We've had so much quality family time and I've actually had time to nap, read, and just hang out. Life is good.

[5] I did a fun post earlier this week on my current favorite drugstore beauty products. Check it out here.

Oh, and remember you have until Sunday to link up with this week's prompt for My Life in Lists!  I'm so loving reading everyone's lists - this linky party is turning out to be a lot of fun!

Hope you've all had as good of a week as I have!
xoxo

Friday Five

[you can find my happy friday image here. feel free to use!]
1. The first "My Life in Lists" link-up started on Monday! Remember you have until Sunday to link up for this week's prompt. Next week's will be posted on Monday at 12am Pacific Time. Go link up!
2. This DIY spring wreath. So easy. One wreath from Michael's ($4) and one bunch of flowers from Michael's ($7). Pulled all the leaves/berries/flowers off the bunch, arranged and hot glued to the wreath! Add a little bit of twine to the top and voila! I love it but the hubby does not haha!
3. Because babies are so flexible!
4. Because we had an Easter egg hunt with cousins and this little boy was so excited about his eggs [read: candy].
5. Because just look at that precious baby. And because being a mama is the best ever, even on the hard days.

New here?
Follow me on insta.
and on bloglovin.
and don't forget to link up for MLIL this week or come back Monday for the new prompt!

FRIDAY.

Friday, March 28, 2014

IT'S FRIDAY.
and that is something to celebrate.
five things from our week:

1. I have seen this angry face more than once this week.
He gets stubborn little gas bubbles and they can be traumatizing to the poor babe [clearly].

2. We visited the Sacramento Children's Museum and while I can't say I was very impressed (it's pretty mediocre in comparison to other children's museums), Jack loved it and cried great big tears when we left.

3. My sisters and I are on a two week sweets fast. The HAPPIEST news is that it ends this Sunday! Here's to hoping that I don't go on a huge dessert binge on Monday and ruin my two weeks of hard work. Saying no to home baked chocolate chip cookies, soda with your pizza, Grandma's delicious sugar cookies, and a late night Thin Mint is not easy. At least not for me. Hooray for surviving!

4. Jillian Michaels' 30-day shred is kicking my booty.
This is what I look like post-workout.
The good news is I only have 11 days left.
HOORAY for that.

5. Have I ever mentioned how much I love living so close to so much family?
I love that Jack is so close to his grandparents/cousins/aunts/uncles.
This afternoon we went to lunch with my parents and little Jack-O-Lantern was in heaven playing matching shapes with Grandma on her phone.
dear all of my siblings who don't live here: you are missing out.

PS Hopefully in next week's post I am telling you all about how extremely successful we were this weekend in taking Jack's binky away cold turkey. And how extremely easy and tear-free it was. HA.

today i'm linking up with lauren for high five on friday
and with darcinatashachristina, and april for five on friday.

High Five for Friday!

Saturday, March 1, 2014

Wow, it's been awhile since I've done a H54F post!
I always mean to but the day just gets away from me...like every single Friday.
Anyway, here I am at 11:50pm actually doing one. It still counts because I have 10 minutes left of Friday ha!
[[linking up with lauren elizabeth]]

1. T is HOME this week and next for paternity leave! We are loving every second. Hence why I'm still really bad at blogging post-baby. Promise, promise I will get back to it soon!

2. I decided to do that crazy crockpot freezer meal thing.
[this is my shopping cart with all the ingredients minus meat which I got at Costco]
I used this 40 meals in 4 hours blog post as my guide/recipe list/grocery list.
The 40 meals thing worked out for me* but the 4 hours part? Not so much.
It took like 4 hours just prepping all the meat, I kid you not! Plus grocery shopping time plus clean up time...the total time was like 8+ hours. Better be worth it.
*ahem...except minus the one that fell to the ground while I was putting it in the freezer. The bag broke and all the contents were all over my garage floor. GAH. So I actually have 39 meals ha.

3. I ran out of freezer bags for the crockpot meals and sent hubby to the store to get more.
He came back with this.
[[hot chocolate.]]
He knows the way to my heart.
PS he also came back with the freezer bags.

4. We got Phillip's newborn pictures back this week! LOVE them.
Another post with all the pictures coming soon.

5. Took a family field trip to the Aerospace Museum today.
Jack Jack was in heaven.
