My Life in Lists

Another week, another list!
Link up with us, make new blog friends, and have fun!

Hosted by myself and my little sister, Kelli, over at K.Gilby, My Life in Lists is a weekly blog link-up where we give you a new prompt each Monday (always a list of some kind!) and you can write your own blog post based on that prompt any day that week! Then link up here or at K.Gilby to join the party! Participating in a blog linky party is a great way to connect with other bloggers and build new friendships, which is what we are exactly hoping to do ourselves by hosting this weekly link-up!

This week we want you to share your current to-do list!
Every single day I hand write a to-do list. Every. Single. Day.
Actually, I just realized that's a lie. I usually don't have one on Saturday or Sunday. Let's rephrase.
Every. Single. Weekday.
And it has to be hand-written! I don't do the whole iPhone notepad to-do list biz. There's something about physically crossing things off your to-do list. If you just erase your finished items it feels like you did nothing all day when you're left with a blank screen staring back at you. haha!
Also. Can I tell you that if I do something that is not on my to-do list I totally add it just so I can cross it off? I'm so serious right now. *insert laughing so hard you cry emoticon*
sidenote: where are emoticons for the blog world?
if I created that right now, I'd be a millionaire.

ANYway. My to-do list. Exactly as it's written in my [real-life, not iPhone] notepad.

- Clean bedroom
- Set up visiting teaching appointments
- write questions for Thurs mtg
- write out trek document (needs, etc)
- clear counter
- wipe counter
- wipe table
- laundry
*colors
*whites
*towels
*sheets
(yes, I seriously write out each load so I feel more productive when I cross it off. Just wait...it gets worse.)
-Dry
*Colors
*Whites
*Towels
*Sheets
-Fold
*colors
*whites
-Put away
*Colors
*Whites
*Towels
*Sheets on bed/make bed
- Start crockpot
- Workout/run
- Tom's lunch
- organize closet
- update journal
- Tidy Phillip's bedroom
- Tidy playroom
 - Bathrooms
*Guest
*Master
- Vacuum
(I used to seriously write out every room that needed to be vacuumed - so every room in the house - but then I stopped because it took up too much room in the notebook haha!)
- Mop
- Scripture Study
- Jack dressed
- Jack bath
- Jack teeth
- Jack breakfast
- Phillip bath
- Phillip dressed
- Shower
- Dressed
- Hair
- Makeup
^sometimes I'm afraid my shower/hair/makeup wouldn't get done if I didn't have it on the to-do list haha!
-Fold rags/put away
- Receipts to Mint
^If you don't use mint.com as your budgeting system you are MISSING OUT. do it now!
- look up trek games
- clean up office
- Huggies codes to huggies.com
- use shutterfly coupon
- facetime kelli & jai
- check what ryan paid
- print crockpot dinner list
- lunch notes
- cradle to storage
^insert many tears^

OHMYGOSH. That is seriously my to-do list. Please tell me someone else's looks like that!? You are probably so confused what some of the stuff on there means ha. But seriously I have to write down EVERYTHING so that at the end of the day I can see what I accomplished.
Let's be honest - there is no way everything on this list will actually be finished by the time I go to bed tomorrow. Because I am not a super-human. Or a person without kids.
The things that don't get done are transferred to tomorrow's list.
Some things float from list to list for weeks. Like updating my journal. I'm like a month behind right now. Yikes.
To-do lists save my sanity (I'm pretty much the queen of to-do lists in case you were wondering). And make me feel way more accomplished when all I've done for the day is shower/get ready/feed children/respond to one million child demands...and get no chores done. Because the showering and feeding and getting ready are on the to-do list. So I can look back at the end of the day and say "hey! I did something on here!" It is so dumb but it works.

OKAY.
So now it's your turn!! What does your to-do list look like? For the good of all mankind (or just for your own good) I really hope it's a lot shorter than mine.
LINK UP and tell me about it!

xoxo

My Life in Lists

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Hey guys! Sorry I'm so late in posting this week's My Life in Lists link-up! It's a good one, too!
I've just been so busy with, ya know, life.
Plus my computer that was half broken is now all broken so I have zero access to a computer most of the time until T gets home from work.  By the time we're done with dinner, bath time, and bedtime routine I'm too exhausted to worry about blogging. So...MLIL brought to you 2.5 days late!

This week's prompt?
List your guilty pleasures!

1. The Bachelorette.
Don't even lie - SO many of you are right there with me!
I honestly don't even LIKE it that much but I'm hooked! - I may or may not be watching Monday's episode in a separate window as I write this.

2. Eating In N Out at midnight.
We used to go at midnight all the time before kids. Now it's pretty much out of the picture but sometimes (like during our Utah vacation) we still enjoy the midnight burger ha!

3. Cereal for dinner.
Tom is a meat & potatoes kinda guy through and through so if I want anything breakfast for dinner I gotta do it when he's not home.  But man, do I love a big bowl of Mini Wheats for dinner. It's easy and it's yum!

4. Watching Grey's Anatomy during nap time.
Read: relax for two minutes and watch Grey's Anatomy after all the chores are done and the babies are still asleep.
No, seriously, why does it always happen like that? The minute I'm done with the to-do list and I settle in for half an episode of Grey's Anatomy before my own nap...one of them wakes up. GAH. The life of a mom.

5. Shopping.
Duh.

What are your guilty pleasures?!
Link up below and tell us about it!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the first link-up last week!

I'm so excited to announce that my sister, Kelli from Team Gilbert is now going to be co-hosting the My Life in Lists link-up every week! Go visit her cute blog.
The great news is you just need to enter your link here OR there and it will appear on both of our blogs!

Here we go for Round #2!
Keep spreading the word!

[04/14 - 04/20]
List five things you'd do with a million dollars.

**I promise it won't always be five things to list! Sometimes it will be a different said number and sometimes it will be completely up to you!**

Oh, man.  What would I do with a million dollars? If I had to choose just five...

1// Pay off the mortgage.
Mainly because my husband would be really mad if I spent my million dollars on everything but the mortgage and because it's the responsible thing to do.

2// Finally check everything off the house to-do list.
Like all of the following.
Built-ins like this in the family room.

An organized playroom like this.

Furniture for the master bedroom.

Back splash in the kitchen!

...and more.
Why does it seem like the list never ends?!

3// Go on a Disney cruise!
Disney Cruise Line
I have heard they are nothing short of amazing!
I've actually never been on a cruise at all and I'm just dying to go.
Plus I'm a little Disney obsessed and it seems like the best family vacation ever!

4// Ginormous shopping spree.
I wouldn't even shop at the really expensive places.
I'd probably want to visit Target (duh), Forever21, GAP Outlet (yes, even with a million dollars to spend!), Banana Outlet, JCrew Factory, H&M and Carter's for the babies!

5// Buy plane tickets to visit my siblings whenever I want.
^^are my sisters the prettiest or what?^^

Or fly them out to visit me.
^^these be my bros^^

Out of five siblings, only one lives in the same state as me! It's so lame.

I'm sure I'll think of about a hundred other cool[er] things I could do with a million dollars right after I post this but these things are all definitely things I'd want to do with SOME of my money!
Now how do I get a million dollars...?

What would you do with a million dollars?
Link up and tell us about it!
xoxo
