The random happenings of our everyday life.

Sooo...Jack plays with the tupperware.
Often he takes the rubber lining out of the lids and plays with that [weird].
Earlier this week he somehow got it wrapped around his body like this.
HA. I don't think he even knew.

One day soon, we are teaching him golf.
Or maybe Daddy should just teach him since I probably know less than Jack.

This week we put our whole hearts into cheering on the A's and were sadly disappointed when they lost in game 5. Boo. At least Jack looks cute in his A's track suit.

I know it sometimes seems like my kid is perfect
[I'm biased but he really is perfect]
BUT sometimes I promise you he is a NORMAL toddler!
YES, he cries! He even throws tantrums. And I finally have the proof.

His cousins watched the video of this tantrum and asked "Is that Jack?...is he CRYING?!"
HAHA! Yes, he cries sometimes! You can all stop hating me for having a child that never, ever cries.

We partied hard at cousin Faith's 6th birthday party...Barbie style.
And by "partied hard" I mean that we showed up an hour late after all the festivities were over [oops], ate some cake, took a picture of Jack in the Ken box, and chatted with family. Ha, we are serious partiers, I tell you.

Good thing I showed you the proof of my child being less than perfect because you would otherwise hate me for this picture.
Is this really my life?
I'm just hoping baby #2 is as chill as Jack-o-lantern.

Jack LOVES playing outside BUT...the backyard isn't good enough.
Every single time he walks immediately to the gate and tries to get into the front yard.
He points a million times and probably thinks "how do you not understand this means I want to play in the FRONT YARD?!"
I get it but he loves to make a run for the street or hang out in the neighbor's driveway touching their cars...so I try to keep him contained in the backyard ha.

There are times when I just really need to get stuff done and Jack refuses to nap.
So I let him wreck havoc while I do my stuff...and pay the price later.
Yep. This is the aftermath of our craft room/office when I let Jack play in here while I sewed.
It was worth every minute I spent cleaning up.

Or the time that I let Jack pull everything out from under the sink so he would let me shower?
Also worth it.
Especially since he went through and cleaned up the bobby pins himself...apparently putting them back in the case is very fun. Next time I drop that case and they spill everywhere I'll know just who to call.

While I sit waiting at doctor's appointments, Jack has the time of his life pushing the doctor's stool around. I'm starting to think we should buy him one of these for Christmas. I'm pretty sure it would entertain him for hours. Think I could find one on Amazon? Haha

Remember how Jack found his Christmas present?...twice?!
Well we moved it to Daddy's closet on an even higher shelf.
Guess who spotted it first thing this morning after Daddy left the closet door open?
Seriously? We have to move the 1-year-old's Christmas present to the rafters?

Oh. And we had yet another melt-down this week.

But then he made up for it with this happy face just minutes later.

And just to leave you with some cuteness...

Thanks for catching up on life with us :]

High Five for FRIDAY!

Friday, October 11, 2013

[ONE]
My father-in-law has spent several hours over here this week helping us prep the exterior of our house for PAINTING tomorrow! Could not be more excited and absolutely could not be more grateful for how selfless my father-in-law is.

[TWO]
Daddy has been working late this week [and has to work tomorrow & possibly Sunday too, boo!] so Jack & I have had LOTS of one-on-one time. We have lots of one-on-one time every week since it's just the two of us around here during the days but this week we've had an extra helping of mommy-son time.

[THREE]
I watched way too many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress. It's such a guilty pleasure and I'm just so obsessed. But hey, lots of it was watched while riding the exercise bike.

[FOUR]
We got a super exciting package [let's be honest - is there a time when packages aren't exciting?] from my sweet sister. It included a house-warming gift with the funniest "congratulations on your house" card I've ever read [which my sister told me she found/bought 6 years ago and has been saving for the perfect person - I feel so honored to have been chosen to receive this card!], a get-well Cold Stone gift card for Jack Jack for when he broke his leg, the sweetest letter from cousin Emma to Jack, and a belated birthday book for Jack Jack. Actually, I guess everything was belated but HEY we'll take it!

We were playing outside when the package came and when I showed Jack his new book he sat right down in the driveway to read it. Then he walked around the garage/front yard reading it over and over and over.

[FIVE]
My parents were huge sanity-savers today when they let Jack & I join them for lunch and errands [and then some catch-up episodes of Revenge] after Jack [and I] barely slept last night, Jack was super cranky this morning and we were dying of boredom and high levels of stress being stuck in the house. I'm pretty sure I never want to live far away from home ever again.

[Linking up with Lauren this happy Friday!]

Jack's Nursery Reveal

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Finally, Jack's nursery reveal...when he's 14 months old and about to be kicked out to a big boy bedroom to make room for baby #2.
It's not even 100% done but I figure if I wait until it is I might never post about it.
It's nothing spectacular but it's cozy and we like it!
PS I'll post at the bottom where everything is from :]

Night time view...maybe you can see the curtains better.

This little buddy hid out in the closet most of the time I was taking pictures...his choice.

But then sometimes he'd just decide to get up and walk around the room right during my panoramic shot haha!

Okay I'm going to repost the top picture for reference as I list where things are from:
[going from left to right]

Picture frames on floating shelf: Thrifted, spray painted with Rustoleum Pure Gold spray paint
Rocking Chair: Thrifted, painted, reupholstered
Pillow on rocking chair: DIY
Stuffed animals: Gifts
Curtains: Ikea semi-sheer white curtains ($10 for two panels) - DIY Painted Stripes, tutorial here
Curtain Rods: DIY from PVC pipe
Crib Bedding: DIY
Area Rug: Ross ($30!)
[We left the cardboard backing off and T & my father-in-law attached supports instead. I love it so much more with the wall showing through than the cheap cardboard!]
[Top shelf] Willow Tree Guardian Musical Figurine: Gift from soccer team [one of my very favorite things in the room], Birth printable: DIY, frame: Target, owl: thrifted [still needs to be spray painted]
[2nd shelf] Cow jumping over the moon drawing: done by my seriously talented cousin, Birds: thrifted and spray painted in Rust-Oleum Metallic Silver
Wicker basket hamper: Ross
Changing table: Thrifted, painted
[seriously, the BEST set of storage baskets ever! I bought like 4 sets when we moved in and have used every single box!]
"Lead Me, Guide Me" Jesus picture: Seagull Book, Frame: Thrifted, spray painted with high gloss white
Dignitet Curtain Wire: Ikea, don't forget to also buy the clips
[this is super extendable, it comes with a TON of wire and you can cut it to be as long/short as you want!]
Family pictures by Janelle Edwards
[not pictured in the above picture] Curtains for closet: Ikea, hemmed
Curtain rod for closet: Ross
Trash Can: Walmart
Wall Paint: Wise Owl (50% color) by Kelly Moore

Like I said, a lot of stuff isn't completely done.
The bookshelf still needs a lot of work/rearranging (it's just hard when you can't use the bottom three shelves because the baby gets to everything on them), curtain rod ends need to be spray painted and put on, still considering painting the dresser a different color, needing to hem the curtains a tad so they don't drape on the ground, etc.
But we'll see when all of that gets done. This will soon be baby brother's room and we've got to get going on Jack's new big boy room!

At 24 weeks...

- I had my 24 week check-up.  My doctor and I are not seeing eye-to-eye on the birth plan. For about the millionth time I expressed my concern about delivering a large baby. Jack was 9lb 1oz and after 1hr45min of pushing EVERY SINGLE CONTRACTION the baby had not descended at ALL. After a Priesthood blessing, he finally made his way past my "small pelvis" (doctor's words) and thankfully entered the world without a c-section. The next day when my doctor came to check on me he advised me that I should be induced 1 week early for future babies to avoid having another large baby and risking a c-section. I gave all this information to my new doctor when I saw him at 9 weeks and at the time he seemed understanding. In all the times I've mentioned my concerns since, he has dismissed them saying I will easily be able to deliver a 9.5 pound baby this time since "Jack paved the way." At this most recent appointment, I told him I really did not want to end up with a c-section just because the baby was too big (like 10lb at 41 weeks!), especially when we already know I have a history of carrying a large baby. His response was that we would have to do a c-section if the baby was too big. Basically, "no big deal." Well, to me a c-section is a big deal. I obviously would like to avoid one. Because I feel like he & I are fighting against each other in our opinions and not working together to find the best solution, I've decided to switch doctors. I am more comfortable with a doctor who will listen to my concerns and at least be open to the idea of induction rather than a doctor whose opinion is more "my way or the highway."  That being said, I don't think Dr. Knight is a bad doctor, just not the right doctor for me. ANYway, I scheduled an appointment with a new OB, Dr. Melchione, who came high recommended by 4 friends. I see him in 2.5 weeks and hopefully that appointment will go better than my last!

-I finally ordered a new maternity dress from Target so I don't have to keep squeezing into my non-maternity church clothes [as seen above].
-I am measuring 25 cm (1cm more than with Jack at this stage).

-I am +14 pounds. I'm currently between the recommended minimum & maximum and 1lb below the recommended average.
Do you want to know how I know this? I found THE BEST pregnancy weight chart ever.
If you are obsessed about your pregnancy weight gain like I am this time around then you NEED to know about this.
Go here and enter your height and pre-pregnancy weight.
Then it calculates the minimum, maximum, and average weight you should be every two weeks.
After I did mine I took a screen shot and refer to that regularly. It's so much easier than the charts that say you should be up "5-8lb" or whatever. No calculating required with this chart! The only downside is it doesn't ask if you're expecting twins.
There ARE charts out there with that option but they don't show the minimum, maximum, and average which is the best part about this chart, in my opinion.

-I had this crazy dream that the baby came 6 weeks early and I was only in labor for like 1 hour before he arrived. I didn't even have time to tell the people who I plan to have in the delivery room that I was in labor. My sister, Kelli & cousin Catherine were both randomly there though which is funny since neither of them live nearby. Don't worry, T made it too.
Note: Please skip the rest of this if you have no interest in the deets of my nonsense dream.
Okay so I delivered on a Sunday. In part of my dream I delivered at the hospital but in other parts of the dream I had delivered in the mother's lounge at my church. And as dreams go, it wasn't weird that I might have delivered in the church nor was it weird that I went back and forth between delivery places. Don't you love how anything goes in dreams?

So right after I delivered I decided to go to the church (or maybe I was already there?) to show the baby to my MIL since she didn't even know I had delivered yet. She was in the Relief Society room at church (and Relief Society was in progress) and I just popped my head in and lifted the baby up for her to see. Hahaha, okay seriously it's awkward just thinking about it.

Then I randomly realized I was wearing a white skirt and I was thinking how it probably was not a good idea to be wearing a white skirt in public being that I had just delivered a baby one hour ago! HA. It must have been a breezy delivery because I felt perfectly comfortable roaming around an hour after giving birth.

So THEN the fire sprinklers are going off...both in the hospital and in the church since I'm still jumping back & forth between where I'm actually at.
The hospital evacuates everyone and basically tells me I'm being discharged...an hour after giving birth! Want to know what I was saddest about after being discharged so early? That the baby never got his name written on a cute little paper and taped to his hospital crib. Hahaha. I was also worried about not getting much-needed sleep the first night since I would have no nurse help.
At the church everyone also left because, duh, we're getting soaked. The thing I was most worried about there was that I somehow knew my dad had papers all over his desk in his bishop's office that were getting soaked. And he was just standing in the hallway. I kept telling him he better go move his papers because they were getting soaked! I don't know why I was so worried about it and yet he seemed so un-worried...while he stood in the hallway getting soaked. Hahahaha.  You should know T & I walked home from church after the sprinkler incident. Our house is only a 5 minute walk away but seriously...an hour after giving birth! HA.

Oh. And you should know that my baby came out at a whopping 8lb even though he was 6 weeks early. I had a dream when I was pregnant with Jack that he came out weighing like 15 pounds and while THAT didn't happen, he was an especially large baby. Obviously 8lb six weeks early is completely unrealistic but YIKES, do I have another BIG baby in my future? Haha, not that I think dreams mean anything but still.

**END OF DREAM**
You can now continue reading if you skipped that part HA.

-For the first time in my LIFE my nails are long! Like normally I have stubs.
You know how they say pregnancy is supposed to give you these amazing nails and hair? With Jack, NADA. No good nails, no good hair. What gives? While I still am lacking in the amazing pregnancy hair department, I can't complain about my nails! They may not look long to you but anyone who really knows me (like my mom, sisters, and T) will tell you this is AMAZING for me! I am so proud.

-I actually allowed myself a nap this week. These are few and far between but one day when it was a little chilly outside (emphasis on A LITTLE) and I was especially tired and Jack was actually napping, I wrapped myself up in this Christmas-y blanket (because I love my Christmas-y blankets and sort of collect them...it's weird) and snuck in a little hour-long nap. Heavenly, I tell you.

On to week 25!
xoxo
